Lamar and I first met Kia Morgan Smith over a year ago. We were given a year?s supply of diapers and wipes by Pampers and we wanted to bless someone else with that gift, since all of our kids were potty trained. We heard about Kia and the Atlanta Diaper Relief from Facebook. We did not know her, but we thought she was providing an awesome service to the community.
Little did we know that meeting Kia would be such a blessing to us! Kia?s passion for helping families in the community is so strong that it?s infectious. It?s actually inspiring us to do more! Because when you encounter Kia?s passion for giving back and when you learn about her own challenges to take care of her family of 7, you will wonder: ??Well am I doing enough? I have no excuses.?
Kia started the diaper bank after her own child was left in diapers all day long and suffered from a terrible rash. ?That situation made her think about all of the other mothers that have no choice but to let their kids stay in diapers for extended periods of time because they can?t afford to buy more. ?So she started Altanta Diaper Relief,??which is the first diaper bank in the Atlanta area that is solely dedicated to diaper distribution only. ?It is Kia?s goal to?ensure that all Atlanta families living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers for their young kids. And this year, the Atlanta Diaper Relief has already given away 50 THOUSAND DIAPERS!?And their goal is to give away 80 thousand diapers by the end of the year!. ?Do you know how many families she?s helping??? This is awesome.
Kia has 5 kids of her own! ?And even though she and her husband have their hands full raising their kids and providing for them, she is working tirelessy to provide a service to the community.
